About
In 1987, the year it was published, La Frontera/Borderlands broke boundaries. Gloria Anzaldúa used Spanish, English, Nahuatl, and Spanglish to explore language, culture, and gender through a post-colonial lens. The resulting work is radical and academic, poetic and political. This interactive workshop takes a similar creative approach, inviting dialogue with the text and among participants. We’ll reflect on our own experiences with language and culture, and together ask: in what ways have the “struggles of identities and of borders” evolved, and what challenges persist?
